Market Manager of the Asterisk Communications radio group in Ocala-Gainesville, John T. Rutledge died Saturday, January 29, 2005, at Ocala Regional Medical Center at the age of 80.

John was a pioneer of modern radio and knew every part of the business. He brought a wisdom and infectious enthusiasm to work each day that can never be replaced.

John was a proud veteran and a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was at his desk the day before he died, at the end of a colorful, fascinating life that can only be described--in his trademark phrase--as "virtually perfect."
